UnStumm, a project of improvised film and music

Nicola Hein and Korhan Erel, two musicians whose paths crossed after Korhan moved to Berlin, have been playing in duos and trios in 2014 and 2015. UnStumm is an idea that Korhan and Nicola developed together for their application to the open call by Cologne-based Akademie der Künste der Welt (Academy of the Arts of the World) and has won the Academy’s support. Two teams of four visual artists and musicians from Germany and Turkey worked together to collaborate on an improvised audio-visual presentation for three days between September 2 – 4. They presented their work at the performance hall of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne on September 5, 2015.

Nicola and Korhan are taking UnStumm outside Germany with collaborations in Hong Kong and Singapore in November 2016. UnStumm Hong Kong will take place in the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble on November 2 – 5, with performances on November 5, and UnStumm Singapore will take place at LaSALLE College of the Arts on November 7 -13, with performances  on Noember 10. Please visit again in October for more information on these events.

More UnStumm events are in the making in Turkey, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, China. Please get in touch with us if you’d like to host this audiovisual, intercultural, collaborative event in your country.
